Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled I&C Commissioning Engineer with deep expertise in SCADA/PLC systems integration and commissioning within the power generation sector. As part of the commissioning team, you will resolve complex technical challenges, uphold best practices, and deliver quality execution across site activities in coordination with contractors, project and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Commissioning Manager and assist the Project Engineering team with preparation, review, and delivery of commissioning documentation and procedures.
* Conduct site-based activities including walk-downs, punch-listing, testing, troubleshooting, and resolving instrumentation and control issues.
* Execute and ensure best practices in Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning.
* Collaborate with contractors and project teams to foster positive, solution-oriented working relationships.
* Interpret and manage interfaces between mechanical/electrical equipment and I&C systems.
* Participate in system commissioning, including defining coordination and dependencies across disciplines.
* Contribute to the creation and upkeep of commissioning and start-up schedules.
* Perform system checks, instrument calibration, loop checking, and both cold and hot commissioning of control systems.
* Oversee installation of instruments, comms and their interfaces during construction phase
* Oversee installation and verification of control panels, cabling, and field instrumentation.
* Coordinate and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Customer Acceptance Tests (CAT).
* Ensure safe and compliant execution of commissioning activities in line with environmental regulations and company standards.
* Document commissioning progress, report outcomes, and escalate issues or improvements as needed.
* Attend project reviews and cross-functional meetings to align execution and status.
Technical Skills & Tools
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, cause-&-effect matrices.
* SCADA/PLC system knowledge—experience with Rockwell, ComAp, B&R, or similar control platforms.
* Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC 61850, ProfiNet, etc.
* Familiar with fibre and copper types and cablings.
* Strong understanding of instrumentation, I&C loops, and system interlocks.
* Demonstrable experience with commissioning documentation, FAT/SAT procedures, and field execution.
Soft Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication; clear technical reporting.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
* Organised with a capacity to prioritise tasks and meet tight project deadlines.
* Collaboration-oriented, with proven ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Qualifications & Experience
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Control or equivalent.
* Experience: Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience in power plants or process industries; experience with generator-enclosed (Gen) power systems is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
* On-site role, often in challenging or industrial settings.
* Flexible scheduling is expected, particularly during commissioning and start-up phases, including potential overtime and shift work
