Job Description

The Opportunity Our client is currently looking for a CAD Technician with experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Building Services to join their Birmingham team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented technician who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects. Project types include: Educational facilities (schools and universities) Residential developments (including multi-storey accommodation) Local government buildings Commercial schemes (such as office fit-outs) The successful candidate will support MEP Engineers by producing high-quality technical drawings and models across all RIBA work stages. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet design and project delivery objectives. Provide drawing support throughout all stages of project development. Produce accurate technical CAD drawings and calculations. Maintain awareness of current industry developments and complete relevant CPD activities. Ensure compliance with internal CAD standards, document control processes, and filing protocols. Raise any legal, contractual, or financial concerns with senior leadership. Candidate Requirements Essential Skills & Experience Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D working knowledge of Revit 3D. Current workload is approximately 95% 2D, with an evolving focus towards 3D modelling. High attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of CAD standards, layering, and technical drawing conventions. Desirable Qualifications City & Guilds Certificate in Computer Aided Design (2D and 3D) or equivalent qualification.
