Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Are you passionate about helping adults achieve their career goals? We are seeking a proactive and empathetic Careers Advisor to join a dynamic Functional Skills centre in Plymouth, supporting adult learners in developing their employability and progressing into further education, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 careers advice and guidance to adult learners studying Functional Skills (English, Maths, ICT)
Support learners in identifying career pathways, training opportunities, and job prospects
Assist with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and job search strategies
Deliver group workshops and employability sessions tailored to adult learners
Maintain accurate records of learner progress and outcomes
Work collaboratively with tutors, support staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic learner support
Requirements:
Level 4 or above qualification in Careers Guidance (e.g., Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development) - essential
Experience working with adult learners or within an adult education setting
Strong knowledge of local labour market trends and progression routes
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
A supportive, non-judgmental approach with a genuine desire to help others succeed
