Job Description

Caretaker / Site Officer – Secondary School (Liverpool) Location: Liverpool Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: September 26 About the Role We are seeking a reliable, proactive and skilled Caretaker to join our team at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in St Helens. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure and well maintained at all times Carry out basic maintenance and repairs (e.g. plumbing, painting, minor electrical work) Open and close the school premises, including evenings or weekends when required Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and alarm systems Conduct regular health & safety checks and risk assessments Manage site security, including responding to alarm call-outs where necessary Oversee contractors on site and ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures Assist with setting up rooms for events, exams and school activities About You We are looking for someone who: Has previous caretaker, facilities or maintenance experience (preferably in a school or similar setting) Has good practical skills and can carry out minor repairs Understands health and safety procedures Is reliable, organised and able to work independently Has good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner Is flexible and willing to work occasional evenings or weekends What We Offer A supportive and friendly working environment Ongoing training and development opportunities Local Government Pension Scheme Generous holiday entitlement Safeguarding Statement This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
