About the role:
This job is for a Carpenter who has a good general knowledge of commercial and domestic buildings. In your duties as a Carpenter there will be statutory checks in line with Approved Code of Practice (Building Regulations, HBN & HTM).
You will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as working within a team. You will need to possess knowledge of building structures and fabric as well as fire compartmentalisation and fire door maintenance including planned preventative maintenance (PPM). Applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carry out carpentry and joinery maintenance safely in line with Trust health & safety policies.
* Repair and maintain doors, door furniture, locks, fixtures, fittings, shelving and partitions.
* Manufacture, assemble and install new carpentry work including stud walls, flooring and ceilings.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive repairs.
* Undertake annual fire door safety checks and report findings.
* Assist with projects, refurbishments and support external contractors.
* Carry out minor building repairs including glazing, tiling, roofing and UPVC works.
* Order materials with the team leader and support multi-skilled maintenance activities.
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
* NVQ Level 2/3, Approved Apprenticeship or City & Guilds in Carpentry/Joinery
* At least 5 years’ relevant maintenance experience (hospital experience desirable)
* Good communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
* Willingness to train in other trades as part of the multi-skilled team
* Full UK driving licence (mileage paid between sites)
This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
