Job Description

We are working with an excellent business based in Greater Manchester Manchester who are looking to bring in a Category (Buying) Assistant. They are dealing with retailers throughout the UK and are looking for someone who has previous experience within fashion or specialty textiles. You will be responsible for preparing and analysing commercial data alongside market trends to support profitable sales growth and delivering on a pipeline of products for customers. Buying Assistant – Responsibilities: Market / Competitor Understanding: * Analyising and understanding trends from competitors with their pricing structures and marketing for any of the given product areas. Pricing: * Updating current and new prices on price list * Cross costing current designs * Costing for new factory designs Product Development: * Spot and develop new products for sales opportunities * Create development diaries and track and push internally and externally with factories for any developments. * Sample management and producing them for customer meetings. Range Management: * Ensuring all live line costing sheets are correct and up to date and corresponds with internal systems * Managing and removing discontinued lines ready for the following seasons negotiation * Updating development docs Critical Path Management: * Setting up critical paths with factories for selected products ensuring you can meet the required shipment dates for launch. * Creating and sending out internally packaging forms * Responsible for weekly intake sheets being updated and sent to our customer giving overview of approvals and what is outstanding * Escalating and tracking any products at risk and agreeing an action plan * Work with the technical team to highlight any potential issues. Tracking them through development to conclusion * Communicate across various departments to ensure we are hitting key dates on critical path General Duties: * Work closely with Merchandising / Stock control for on time vs delayed deliveries and updating customer information accordingly * Liaise with technical on new products, new factories and quality issues * General admin support where and when needed * General housekeeping duties for data/sample storage/showroom & updating bars.
