Job Title: Catering Supervisor
Pay rate: £15.57 – £17.03 per hour
Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday (7.15am - 2.15pm)
Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Catering Supervisor to join a specialist SEN school in the Birmingham area. This is a long-term position with the potential to go permanent, starting immediately. The school supports pupils aged 9–16 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and this role is an opportunity to make a real difference by leading the catering service that supports both staff and pupils.

Job requirements:
• Proven experience in large-scale catering management
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
• Up-to-date Food Allergy Awareness certification (including Natasha’s Law)
• Strong knowledge of allergen protocols and food labelling regulations
• Ability to use basic ICT tools (email, Word, internet)
MUST HAVE AN ENHANCED DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE
Role responsibilities:
• Overseeing food preparation, cooking, and service to a high standard
• Leading and motivating a small catering team
• Managing resources efficiently and ensuring value for money
• Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards
• Ensuring compliance with UK and EU food safety and allergen laws
• Coordinating health & safety across all kitchen operations
