Job Description
Engineering @365 is working with a forward-thinking technical services business specialising in the design, delivery, and support of integrated electronic and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial clients. The company is entering an exciting growth phase and is now seeking a Lead Design Engineer with estimating experience to play a key role within its expanding technical team.
About the role:
You’ll be responsible for taking complex client briefs and turning them into practical, commercially viable design and cost solutions. This is a hands-on position that combines technical engineering design with commercial estimation, supporting bids and tenders from concept through to delivery. You’ll work closely with design, projects, and operations teams to ensure solutions are accurate, profitable, and achievable in real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Produce high-quality technical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD or similar software.
* Review specifications and site information to create compliant design proposals.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, and tender documents.
* Source and specify materials and equipment in partnership with suppliers and partners.
* Support bid/no-bid decisions and contribute to commercial strategy.
* Continuously improve internal design and estimating tools and processes.
* Provide guidance to junior team members and support the development of best practices.
What we’re looking for:
* Proven background in designing and estimating electronic, electrical, or mechanical systems within the CCTV and security industry.
* Experience with BS8418 1, NCP104.3 and PD6662 is a must.
* Strong CAD skills with experience using AutoCAD.
