Construction, Design & Management Consultant / Principal Designer
Location: South Wales
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced CDM Consultant / Principal Designer to join a growing multidisciplinary construction consultancy with an excellent reputation across the UK.
Working across a varied portfolio of projects, you will advise clients, designers and project teams on their duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), ensuring health and safety is embedded throughout the design and pre-construction phases.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to work within a collaborative consultancy environment where they can take ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and contribute to delivering high-quality CDM and Principal Designer services.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake the Principal Designer role in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015.
Advise clients on their statutory duties throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate and manage health and safety during the pre-construction phase.
Facilitate and lead design risk review meetings with design teams.
Review and challenge design risks, promoting practical risk elimination where possible.
Prepare and review Pre-Construction Information (PCI).
Compile and maintain Health & Safety Files.
Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors and project managers to ensure compliance with CDM legislation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing practical health and safety advice.
Support business development through excellent client service and technical expertise.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Previous experience as a CDM Consultant, Principal Designer or CDM Advisor.
Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
Experience delivering Principal Designer services across construction projects.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to confidently engage with clients and multidisciplinary design teams.
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to managing design risk.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Qualifications & Memberships
APS Membership.
CMaPS accreditation.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma.
IOSH Membership.
Relevant construction, surveying, engineering or health & safety qualification.
Applications will also be considered from a MCIAT background looking to move into CDM work.
