CDM Lead (Contract) – London (Hybrid) We're seeking an experienced CDM Lead for a minimum 8-month contract based in London. This pivotal role requires someone to drive the implementation of CDM Designer duties across a major program, ensuring full compliance with the CDM Regulations 2015 and our client's best practices. You'll work five days a week, with monthly travel to Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity to embed safe-by-design principles from the earliest stages of a project's lifecycle. What You'll Do: Lead the application of CDM Designer responsibilities, adhering to best practices. Develop Pre-Construction Information Packs and prepare Health and Safety Files in close collaboration with the Principal Contractor. Identify and manage design risks, maintaining a comprehensive design risk register. Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary design reviews for CDM compliance. Coordinate with asset owners, operations teams, contractors, and end users during early design phases. Facilitate design risk workshops (e.g., HAZOPs, Design Gateway Reviews). Integrate risk registers across design packages and apply the hierarchy of risk control. Engage and influence senior stakeholders on design risk matters. Support the development and delivery of CDM and design safety training for project teams. What You'll Bring: Degree-qualified in a relevant construction or engineering discipline. Minimum six years’ experience in the Water Sector and working under CDM Regulations 2015. Strong understanding of CDM objectives and safe-by-design principles. Demonstrable knowledge and application of the regulations. Essential site experience and sector-specific knowledge. Professional chartership (e.g., engineer, surveyor, architect). NEBOSH Construction Certificate. Experience acting as a Principal Designer on multi-disciplinary infrastructure or utilities projects. Ability to provide case studies or references demonstrating successful coordination and risk management outcomes. Highly Desirable: Familiarity with BS 6164 (tunnelling/shaft work), PAS 1192/ISO 19650 (BIM), and Construction Leadership Council guidance. Awareness of environmental or water industry-specific safety standards. Experience with infrastructure frameworks (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and AMP delivery frameworks or utilities capital programmes. Experience using digital tools for design risk and document management (e.g., Asite, BIM 360, SharePoint), and basic BIM coordination skills. Membership with the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS/CMaPS). Temporary Works Coordinator or awareness training. BIM Awareness or Information Management Certification. SMSTS or equivalent site safety management training. For more information, please contact Stephen Tiigah – (url removed)
