Job Description
We are looking for a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with recent practice experience to join a well established accountancy firm in St Helens.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and proactive professional to take on a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company.
Salary is c£50-55,000 per annum plus holidays, pension etc.
As part of the management team, you’ll play an integral part in driving business performance, enhancing the service delivery, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives.
Role Overview
As a Qualified Chartered Accountant, you will oversee key financial operations and ensure the delivery of accurate, compliant financial reporting. Your role will support both the day-to-day financial processes and the broader strategic direction of the firm.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee core financial and accounting operations.

Prepare and review statutory accounts, financial statements, and management reports.
*
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
*
Develop and refine internal financial policies and procedures.
*
Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
*
Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
*
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
*
Supervise and mentor junior finance staff (subject to experience).
*
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.
*
Lead or contribute to ad hoc financial projects and assignments.
About You
*
Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent UK qualification).
*
Recent and relevant experience within an accountancy practice.
*
Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements.
*
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
*
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
*
Analytical and solution-focused mindset.
*
Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
*
Proactive, self-motivated, and commercially aware.
*
Proficient in accounting software and Iris Practice Management (preferred).
*
Experience with platforms like Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.
*
Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong working relationships.
