Chartered Building Surveyor – Scottish Highlands
Life-Changing Opportunity
Permanent | Full Time | Rent-Free Accommodation | Competitive Package
Represented by Perpetual Partnerships
Perpetual Partnerships is proud to represent a remarkable client in their search for a Chartered Building Surveyor to take a leading role in one of the most breathtaking and unspoiled corners of the United Kingdom—the far Northern Highlands of Scotland.
This is not just a job—it’s a lifestyle opportunity that could redefine your personal and professional trajectory.
Why This Role Could Be Life-Changing
Imagine leaving behind the relentless pace of urban life for the serenity and majesty of the Highlands. Instead of daily commutes and corporate bustle, your working environment will include deer-stalked glens, ancient forests, dramatic peaks, and lochs rich in trout and salmon.
This role sits at the heart of a historic and forward-thinking rural estate, where sustainability, heritage, and community are at the forefront. You’ll be part of a small, driven leadership team delivering exceptional work across a diverse property portfolio with a long-term vision for preservation and innovation.
The Opportunity
As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will be entrusted with the stewardship of the estate’s buildings and infrastructure. This is a senior leadership position requiring both hands-on and strategic management. You’ll oversee a skilled in-house maintenance team while leading the planning, delivery, and compliance of all construction, refurbishment, and repair projects across the estate’s varied assets.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the refurbishment and maintenance programme
Leading and mentoring the in-house team
Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and statutory inspections
Budget forecasting and cost control using systems such as Qube, C365, and Stock Condition surveys
Liaising with local authorities, suppliers, and contractors
Supporting the estate leadership team with long-term planning goals
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a qualified MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor, or equivalent (CIOB/APM), with a minimum of 5 years’ construction or estates management experience. You should be confident leading multidisciplinary teams, comfortable working in a remote setting, and motivated to deliver high standards across varied, challenging projects.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as is the willingness to travel occasionally to a head office in England for quarterly compliance meetings.
What’s on Offer
Alongside the unparalleled quality of life that comes with living in the Highlands, this role offers an attractive compensation package including:
Rent-free accommodation with fully paid council tax
20% non-contributory pension scheme
AXA private medical insurance (employer-paid)
Life assurance (4x salary)
Monthly wellness contributions (£30)
Access to exclusive staff discounts and social events
Your base will be in a stunning part of the Northern Highlands, surrounded by spectacular landscapes and a welcoming community—where every day offers views and experiences most only dream of.
A Word from Perpetual Partnerships
We see this as more than a recruitment assignment—it’s an invitation to embrace something truly special. For a driven, forward-thinking surveyor looking to escape the conventional, this is your moment.
