Chemical Process Operator
Job Purpose An established hazardous waste treatment facility is seeking an experienced Process Plant Operative to join its Special Treatment and Recovery team. The site operates a variety of chemical processes focused on the treatment and recovery of hazardous materials, including acids, alkalis, oxidisers, and oily waters. This hands-on role involves operating manual and semi-manual systems, as well as managing bulk liquid transfers via site tankers.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and prepare operating equipment for daily processing tasks
Follow detailed operating instructions for vessel charging, safe systems of work, and liquid transfer operations
Handle and process reactive chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and oxidisers
Monitor and control chemical reaction parameters to ensure safe and effective treatment
Collect process samples, request laboratory analysis, and interpret results to determine reaction endpoints
Perform shutdown procedures and clean plant machinery as required
Report any issues with production processes or equipment to site management and maintenance teams
Essential Requirements
Valid Forklift Truck licence
Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate
