Chief Accountant
Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, DA6 7AT
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 71.77 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities
Oversee the creation of the Council's accounts.
Act as the main expert on financial accounting rules and advise the Council's finance officer.
Maintain the Council's financial control system, ensuring regular reconciliations.
Communicate and manage relationships with External Auditors.
Handle year-end capital and asset accounting processes.
Provide financial accounting advice to support decision-making and financial modeling.
Complete VAT returns and offer corporate advice on VAT matters.
Have overall responsibility for the Balance Sheet.
Manage improvements in the Council's financial systems and reporting.
Person Specifications
Must Have
CCAB qualification.
Ability to work in a hybrid setting, with office attendance once a week and occasional evening meetings.
Nice to Have
Experience in a similar role within a public sector organization.
Strong communication skills for presenting to directors and councillors.
