Job Description
Child Protection Social Worker - Shropshire (Hybrid)
Shropshire Children's Services are seeking experienced Child Protection Social Workers to join their Child Protection Team on a hybrid basis (1 day in the office per week). This role offers the opportunity to manage a complex caseload, safeguarding children and supporting families at all stages of statutory intervention.
You will work with children and families under Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection Plans (CPP), Pre-Proceedings (PLO), Court Proceedings, and Supervision Orders (SO). Your work will directly influence the safety, welfare, and positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children and families across CIN, CPP, PLO, proceedings, and SO cases
Conduct home visits to assess needs, monitor risk, and provide support
Attend core group meetings, child protection conferences, and multi-agency meetings
Prepare statutory reports and court documentation to support decision-making
Develop, implement, and review Child in Need and Child Protection Plans
Collaborate with multi-agency partners including health, education, and safeguarding teams
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records in line with statutory guidance
Demonstrate professional autonomy, sound judgment, and analytical skills in a fast-paced environment
Essential Requirements
Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
Social Work England registration (current and active)
Experience managing a caseload of statutory child protection and child in need cases
Knowledge of PLO, Court Proceedings, and Supervision Orders
Strong assessment, risk analysis, and report writing skills
Excellent communication, multi-agency collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work autonomously and within a team while managing competing priorities
Pay & Working Pattern
Rate: Up to £33.30 per hour
Hybrid: 1 day in the office per week
