Assessment & Staying Together Social Worker - Staffordshire Children's Services
Staffordshire Children's Services are seeking experienced Social Workers to join their Assessment and Staying Together Teams. This role offers the opportunity to support children and families at the earliest stage, providing high-quality assessments and interventions to promote safety, well-being, and positive family outcomes.
You will work with children and families across Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection Plans (CPP), Pre-Proceedings (PLO), Court Proceedings, and Supervision Orders (SO). Your work will support family stability, child protection, and permanency planning, ensuring the right outcomes for children while keeping families safely together wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to identify needs, risks, and strengths within the family
Develop, implement, and review Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, and intervention strategies
Work directly with families to support reunification, promote resilience, and prevent children entering care
Participate in core groups, child protection conferences, and court proceedings
Liaise and collaborate with multi-agency partners including health, education, probation, and safeguarding teams
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive records in line with statutory guidance and Staffordshire policies
Provide guidance and professional support to colleagues and family support staff where appropriate
Demonstrate professional autonomy, analytical thinking, and creativity in managing complex cases
Essential Requirements
Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
Social Work England registration (current and active)
Proven experience in child and family assessments, safeguarding, and child protection interventions
Knowledge of CIN, CPP, PLO, Court Proceedings, and Supervision Orders
Strong risk assessment, analytical, and report writing skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multi-agency collaboration skills
Ability to work flexibly and autonomously while managing a complex caseload
