Children's Advanced Practitioner - Duty & Assessment | Wigan 📍 Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester 💰 Pay Rate: Competitive (Locum / Agency) 🏢 Working Pattern: Full-Time / Hybrid Options Wigan Council are looking for a Children's Advanced Practitioner to join their Duty and Assessment Service, providing expert leadership and assessment support to children, young people, and families at the earliest stages of intervention. This is a fast-paced, challenging role where you will lead critical assessments and guide social workers through complex cases, ensuring positive outcomes and safe practices. About the Role As a Children's Advanced Practitioner, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support across one of Wigan's five Duty teams. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring children and families receive timely, high-quality interventions at the first point of contact. The Duty service works on a five-week rotation, meaning you will be on Duty one week in every five. Each team consists of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, a Senior Social Worker, and six Social Workers. You will be expected to support staff, oversee assessments, and contribute to key decisions on children's pathways and safeguarding. Key Responsibilities Lead and support social workers in statutory assessments, Child Protection, Child in Need, CLA reviews, and PLO meetings Provide expert advice and consultation to staff within the Duty Service and multi-agency partners Manage complex and high-risk cases, ensuring risk assessment, safeguarding, and intervention plans are robust and timely Contribute to decision-making for case transfers, ensuring children and families are matched with the most appropriate long-term team Deliver reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development for social workers and other team members Participate in duty rota responsibilities and ensure prompt, accurate responses to new referrals Support families to develop long-term sustainable solutions through creative, solution-focused approaches Requirements Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration Significant experience in children's social work, including child protection, Child in Need, CLA, and court processes Proven leadership or advanced practitioner experience Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support children, families, and professionals Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment and support teams under pressure Benefits of working with Eden Brown Synergy: DBS check processed and paid for Referral bonus if you refer a colleague or friend Bonus for finding your own job Twice weekly payroll Dedicated recruitment consultant to support you throughout your assignment How to Apply If you're an experienced Advanced Practitioner with a passion for safeguarding children and leading high-performing teams, we want to hear from you. 📧 Mayur Rabari - m.rabari @(url removed) 📞 Call (phone number removed) Children's Advanced Practitioner - Duty & Assessment | Wigan | Lead and support social work teams in a fast-paced duty and assessment service.
