Job Description

Children's Duty Social Worker - Wigan Wigan Children's Services are seeking experienced Children's Duty Social Workers to join their fast-paced Duty Service. This team provides the first point of contact for families requiring assessment and intervention, ensuring children's needs are addressed effectively and safely. As a Duty Social Worker, you will assess and intervene at the earliest stage, working across complex cases. You will provide timely analysis, risk assessment, and recommendations to determine the best long-term support pathway for children and families. The Duty Service operates on a five-week rotation, meaning you will go on duty once every five weeks, supported by a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, and Senior Social Worker. Cases are short-term, with outcomes informing transfer to the most appropriate service team.
