Job Description

Residential Children’s Home Manager Salary: £44,900 – £46,933 per year Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Location: On-site | Must hold a valid UK Driving Licence This is not just a job. This is leadership with purpose. We are seeking a proven leader with direct, hands-on experience managing a children’s residential home. This role is crucial — you will be the driving force behind the safety, development, and well-being of some of the most vulnerable young people in our community. We’re not looking for someone stepping into management for the first time. We’re looking for someone who has done this before — someone with the resilience, vision, and confidence to take ownership of a home and lead from the front. What you’ll be responsible for: Home leadership and oversight You will be fully accountable for the day-to-day and long-term operations of a registered children’s home. You will lead by example to establish a stable, safe, and nurturing environment and drive a culture of excellence and compassion that reflects trauma-informed, child-centred care. Regulatory and OFSTED compliance You will ensure the home operates in full compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements. You will prepare for and lead OFSTED inspections with confidence and precision, and address any areas of concern with urgency and transparency. Team management and development You will recruit, develop, and retain a strong, values-led staff team. You will provide consistent supervision, mentoring, and leadership support while championing a positive working culture that supports staff well-being and development. Child-centred practice You will ensure that every child has a personalised care plan that meets their emotional, social, and educational needs. You will lead from the front in promoting safeguarding, resilience, and independence, and be a visible, active presence in the lives of the children in your care. Strategic and financial leadership You will manage budgets, resources, and reporting with accountability and integrity. You will identify opportunities for improvement and service development, and engage with senior leadership and external professionals to shape best practice. What you must bring to this role: You will have a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children’s residential home. You will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and OFSTED regulatory frameworks. A recognised qualification in Social Work, Children’s Residential Care, or a related field (such as NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management) is required. You will be a strong, confident leader with sound decision-making skills, emotional resilience, and a calm, authoritative presence. A full UK Driving Licence is essential, and an Enhanced DBS check is required or must be obtained. Why join us: We offer a highly competitive salary between £44,900 and £46,933 per year. You will have access to a company car, free on-site parking, casual dress, a supportive working environment, company pension, and sick pay. We pride ourselves on a wellbeing-focused culture and offer opportunities for professional growth. Most importantly, you’ll make a tangible, lasting difference in children’s lives every single day. Schedule: This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, working either 9:00–5:00 or 8:00–4:00 (40 hours per week). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service. If you’ve successfully managed a children's residential home before — and you're ready to do it again with energy, vision, and purpose — we want to hear from you. Apply now and lead where it matters most
