Dudley Council are seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead their Adolescent Safeguarding Service, supporting vulnerable young people who are at risk, including those experiencing exploitation, neglect, and other safeguarding concerns.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a senior social work professional who can provide strategic oversight, operational management, and ensure high-quality safeguarding interventions for adolescents.
About the Role
As the Team Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of social workers and practitioners to deliver high-quality safeguarding services to adolescents. You will be responsible for case management oversight, providing reflective supervision, driving team performance, and ensuring statutory compliance across all safeguarding processes.
Your leadership will be pivotal in developing effective interventions, improving outcomes, and supporting your team to navigate complex cases with professionalism and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and support a team of social workers and practitioners in the Adolescent Safeguarding Service
Ensure all safeguarding interventions meet statutory guidelines and best practice standards
Provide reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development for team members
Oversee case management, ensuring high-quality assessments, risk management, and care planning
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including education, health, police, and voluntary services, to deliver coordinated support for adolescents
Chair and contribute to complex case discussions, strategy meetings, and child protection conferences
Monitor and improve team performance, quality assurance, and reporting in line with Dudley Council policies
Promote a positive, resilient, and professional team culture focused on achieving outcomes for children and young peopleRequirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
Proven management or senior practitioner experience in safeguarding adolescents or children at risk
Strong understanding of child protection, adolescent safeguarding, exploitation, and multi-agency working
Excellent leadership, supervisory, and organisational skills
Experience in managing complex, high-risk cases and making risk-informed decisions
