Children’s Home Manager / Residential Care Manager

About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Children’s Home Manager (also known as Residential Care Manager or Registered Manager) to lead a children’s residential care home in Birmingham.
You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, stable, and nurturing home for young people aged 8–17 who have experienced trauma or challenging life circumstances. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference every day — supporting young people to reach their full potential and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of Residential Support Workers and Senior Support Staff.
* Ensure the home provides high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted standards and Children’s Homes Regulations.
* Promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each young person.
* Develop and deliver care plans, activities, and programmes that encourage independence and development.
* Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, therapists, and educational professionals.
* Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
* Manage budgets, rotas, and staffing to ensure smooth day-to-day operation.
* Implement policies and safeguarding procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.
* Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and empowerment within the home.
Requirements
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
Previous experience as a Children’s Home Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Residential Support Worker.
Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and the Quality Standards framework.
Proven leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
Compassionate, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for young people.
CPR and First Aid certification desirable.
