Social Worker - Adoption Team | Lancashire County Council | £36 per hour (Umbrella) Location: County Hall, Preston (covering Lancashire, Blackpool, and out-of-county areas) Contract: Full-time | Hybrid working | Pay Rate: £36 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role Lancashire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool Service within the Recruitment and Assessment Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated regional adoption service delivering high-quality support to prospective adopters and children across the North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, preparation, and support of adoptive applicants, ensuring compliance with national adoption standards, legislation, and best practice guidance. Key Responsibilities Undertake comprehensive assessments of prospective adopters, producing high-quality Prospective Adopter Reports (PARs) for presentation at Adoption Panel. Support and guide adoptive families through the matching, placement, and adoption order Deliver training and preparation workshops for adoptive applicants and contribute to ongoing development sessions. Liaise with professionals in statutory and voluntary agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and families. Maintain detailed case records and ensure full compliance with Adoption Agency Regulations and National Minimum Standards. Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and service development Undertake administrative and monitoring duties to support effective service delivery. Essential Requirements Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration. Minimum of three years' experience working in a permanent statutory Local Authority setting. Experience completing PAR assessments or similar complex family assessments. Strong understanding of adoption legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and care planning. Ability to travel across Lancashire, Blackpool, and occasionally out-of-county as required. The worker must not have held a permanent or fixed-term role within the last 12 weeks.
