Children's Social Worker - Family Safeguarding | Lancashire County Council Locations: Rawtenstall, Pendle, Lancaster, Fleetwood, Chorley, Skelmersdale, Preston, Accrington About the Role Lancashire County Council is seeking experienced Children's Social Workers to join our Family Safeguarding teams across multiple locations. You will play a key role in protecting and supporting vulnerable children and families, working within a strengths-based and child-focused framework. As part of our multi-agency teams, you will undertake statutory duties including child protection investigations, child in need planning, and care proceedings, ensuring safe outcomes and improved life chances for children and families. Key Responsibilities Undertake assessments, child protection investigations, and care planning for children and families. Manage complex caseloads across Child Protection (CP), Child in Need (CIN), and Early Help Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and professionals to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. Prepare and present reports for Child Protection Conferences and Court proceedings. Maintain accurate records and statutory documentation in line with council and legal requirements. Contribute to team development, reflective practice, and continuous improvement of the service. Essential Requirements Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England. Proven experience in children's social care, preferably in Family Safeguarding or Child Protection. Strong knowledge of Children Act 1989/2004, safeguarding procedures, and statutory frameworks. Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage complex caseloads, and operate within a multi-agency team environment.
