Civil Engineer
Sheffield
A well-established multidisciplinary Consultancy is seeking a motivated and technically capable Civil Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team in Sheffield. This role offers the chance to take a central position in the design and delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects, spanning highways, drainage, earthworks, public realm works and infrastructure for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
As a Civil Engineer within this progressive Consultancy, you will contribute to projects from initial feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction. You will be responsible for preparing and checking technical designs, drawings, calculations, specifications and reports, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of technical quality, safety and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with in-house Structural Engineers and environmental specialists alongside architects, developers, local authorities, contractors and other stakeholders, helping to produce coordinated, buildable and sustainable engineering solutions.
The role will also involve developing drainage strategies, supporting the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments, preparing SuDS-based designs and engaging with adopting authorities on Section 278, 38 and 104 agreements. Site visits and input throughout the construction phase will provide valuable exposure to how designs are realised on the ground and allow you to build strong working relationships with clients and delivery partners.
You should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline and ideally be working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or a similar professional body. A strong understanding of highway and drainage design principles will be essential, together with good knowledge of UK planning and adoption processes. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Civil 3D, PDS, MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow and AutoCAD will be important, along with the ability to communicate clearly, analyse problems effectively and manage your workload within a collaborative project environment.
In return, you will join a forward-thinking Consultancy that offers exposure to a diverse and stimulating portfolio of projects across the UK. The organisation places a strong emphasis on professional development, providing opportunities to broaden your technical expertise, gain further responsibility and progress your career in a supportive and engaging environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer who is keen to develop their skills while contributing to the delivery of high-quality and sustainable infrastructure projects.
