Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join a growing team delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the East Midlands. This role will focus on pricing and tendering works including highways maintenance, public realm improvements, surfacing schemes, Section 278 works, as well as specialist projects across airports and race tracks. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing work by producing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects

  * Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates

  * Manage the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission and post-tender negotiations

  * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations

  * Identify risks and opportunities within tender documents and develop appropriate pricing strategies

  * Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to ensure alignment with project delivery objectives

  * Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required

  * Maintain and develop a strong understanding of market rates and industry trends

Project Exposure:

  * Highways maintenance and improvement schemes

  * Public realm and urban regeneration works

  * Asphalt surfacing and road construction

  * Section 278 (S278) developer-led highway works

  * Infrastructure projects within airports

  * Specialist surfacing works on race tracks and motorsport facilities

Requirements:

  * Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering or highways

  * Strong knowledge of surfacing, highways maintenance, and infrastructure projects

  * Experience pricing S278 works and public realm schemes is highly desirable

  * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

  * Commercially astute with strong analytical and numerical skills

  * Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office packages

  * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  * Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  * Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying

  * Experience working on airport or race track projects

  * Familiarity with NEC contracts
