Job Description

Great opportunity for a Civils Design Manager working for a major civil engineering contractor near Portsmouth on a prestigious project The Civils Design Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of the civil design stage of the project and for managing and updating the civil design project programme with the assistance of the project programmer. The Civils Design Project Manager will have both technical competencies and practical experience delivering the relevant types of work on sites ​Responsibilities of the Civils Design Project Manager * Direct the design team in terms of both the design programme and conflict resolution where individual design packages may impact on other designs. * Identify where there are design interfaces and to risk assess these interfaces, understanding commercial, practical and operational impacts. * Coordinate and chair both internal (Project Team) design review and Client Expert and Operational Team Reviews, collating views and driving outcomes. * Review design buildability and costs. * Support the construction team to develop and implement suitable temporary works solutions. * Manage the delivery of design projects within a BIM environment. * Responsible for project deliverables and agreeing these with the Client, including asset information, models, MEICA Specifications and all Operation and Maintenance Manuals. * Understand the clients requirements and review the suitability of the proposed solution given the constraints of the site. * Review design submissions before issuing to the client. * Coordinate and submit suitable responses to client comments in a timely manner. * Conduct site asset surveys at scoping stage and commissioning / handover stage. * Lead in reviewing civil design, specification, equipment orders and schedules. * Liaise with operations and maintenance staff during initial scope and upgrade works. * Liaise with and lead stakeholders engagement throughout design and commissioning stages * Attending design and progress meetings, tender handover and pre start meetings. * Effective commercial engagement to manage risk and performance. Skills​ & Knowledge Requirements for the Civil Design Manager * Experience within the wastewater industry * Commercial awareness (NEC3,4 & JCT) * Awareness of CDM regulations and HAZOP requirements * Significant knowledge of construction techniques * Knowledge of compliance with health, safety & environmental legislation * Compliance with specifications, standards & design * Review and approval of design consultant applications for payment. * Liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet the requirements of the project. * Ensuring compliance with current industry standards * Working in accordance with the projects seven strategic drivers This represents a great opportunity together with a highly competitive salary package Apply now
