Job Description
S&D Trade Recruitment is working with an expanding energy contractor delivering projects across the UK in solar farms, battery storage, gas peaking plants, and EV charging infrastructure for private customers and DNOs. We are recruiting for an experienced Civils Supervisor for a long-term contract role.
This self-employed role (CIS) offers a competitive rate of up to £25 per hour, depending on experience, with 50+ hours per week. A company van will be provided after 3 to 4 months. Full accommodation is provided in a private house with full amenities (not a hotel). Immediate start available.
Civils Supervisor Duties:
* Supervise and/or work as part of a 2-man civils team, completing earthworks, excavations, trenches, concreting, slab work, and other groundwork activities on large-scale energy projects.
* Ensure all civils work complies with codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
* Lead and manage labour and subcontractors, allocating tasks and monitoring quality.
* Coordinate with project managers and clients to plan and execute work efficiently.
* Provide regular updates on progress, material use, and any issues.
* Train and mentor junior staff on best practices and safe working methods.
* Work in various outdoor environments, with variable hours including possible weekends.
* Strictly adhere to safety procedures and use PPE at all times.
Civils Supervisor Requirements:
* Minimum five years’ experience in civils/groundworks, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
* Relevant tickets for excavator, dumper, and roller for both Supervisor and Operative.
* SMSTS or SSSTS for Supervisor (or willingness to obtain).
* CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
* First Aid and Confined Spaces certificates (or willingness to complete).
* Proficient in reading site drawings and using site reporting tools (e.g., iAuditor, Microsoft).
* Own transport required (mileage reimbursed at 25p per mile).
* Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and team management skills.
