Job Description

HGV 1 Night Shunter

We are currently recruiting for a HGV 1 Night Shunter in Wednesbury for an exciting temp-perm opportunity.

  * Mon-Fri

  * 17:00-04:30am

  * £42,000 salary

Duties

  * Handover from planner to shunter for nights loading requirements.

  * Complete Tug safety checks

  * Completing vehicle safety checks before shunting trailers to loading bay

  * Keep pace with loading operation to meet loading schedule demands.

  * Assist when and where needed to strap loads. (But this is generally done by the loading team)

  * Support the nightshift team leader with fleet maintenance where possible i.e. changing bulbs curtain buckles, that type of thing.

  * Assist with fleet housekeeping.

  * Work to set safety standards

Requirements

  * 6 months HGV 1 experience

  * Valid HGV licence with relevant category entitlement (Category C+E preferred)

  * Delivery driver experience is advantageous, demonstrating familiarity with logistics processes

  * Strong understanding of vehicle safety procedures and yard organisation

  * Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

  * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  * A responsible attitude towards safety and compliance standards in line with industry regulations
