Job Description

A Rare Opportunity with a Classic Car Specialist With over 30 years of excellence and an outstanding reputation in the restoration of classic and historic vehicles, we are offering a rare opportunity to join our highly skilled team. This is a position that seldom becomes available and is ideally suited to a fabricator with a passion for craftsmanship, precision, and heritage engineering. We are seeking a talented fabricator to join our workshop, working alongside an experienced colleague in our fabrication department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in restoring some of the most iconic and valuable classic cars in the world, recreating bodywork and chassis components with an uncompromising standard of detail and finish. Key Responsibilities as a Classic Car Restorer: Recreate complex shapes from sheet metal to restore classic car bodywork. Apply welding and finishing skills to ensure the integrity and presentation of chassis and body structures. Work with both steel and aluminium, with strong MiG and TiG welding skills being highly advantageous. Shape panels with double curvatures by hand or using traditional tools such as English wheels. Understand vehicle construction methods and accurately estimate the time and work required for repairs. Maintain a tidy, well-stocked, and organised working area. Manage time effectively and deliver work to high standards within agreed deadlines. Occasionally liaise with clients, explaining progress and showing restoration work. The Ideal Classic Car Restorer: A proven background in precision fabrication – ideally within automotive restoration, though experience in related industries such as aviation, rail, or marine will also be considered. Skilled in sheet metal forming, panel making, and traditional fabrication techniques. Competent in both MiG and TiG welding on steel and aluminium. Able to work independently with excellent attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship. Professional, reliable, and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. A photographic portfolio of previous work would be highly encouraging, though not essential. Why Join Us? Work with one of the most respected names in the classic car industry. Contribute to the preservation and restoration of some of the world’s most iconic vehicles. Join a close-knit and passionate team where craftsmanship and quality come first. Great working hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. No weekend work. Generous holiday package: 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays, plus 3 gifted days off over Christmas. Enjoy a role that offers both challenge and reward in equal measure. If you are interested in hearing more about this Classic Car Restorer job in the Norwich area, please contact Danielle Axtell-Carty at Perfect Placement Today.
