Classroom Support Assistant - Autism Support - Oxford
An exciting opportunity has opened for a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Oxford, supporting pupils aged 4 to 16. This is a rewarding role where you'll play a vital part in helping students with Autism thrive both academically and emotionally.
About the Role:
As a Classroom Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teaching staff to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Your role will be to help create a structured, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.
Many of the students also experience additional needs such as anxiety, ADHD, or social communication difficulties. Your role will involve offering emotional reassurance, promoting positive behaviour, and adapting activities to meet individual learning styles.
Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with autism and related needs in the classroom
Assisting with the delivery of engaging, accessible lessons across the curriculum
Working 1:1 or with small groups to help students reach their potential
Helping to manage behaviour positively and consistently
Encouraging social interaction and communication skills
Collaborating with teachers and therapists to ensure individual learning plans are followedWe're looking for someone who is:
Patient, empathetic, and resilient
Confident working with children with special educational needs
Able to build trust and positive relationships with students
Adaptable and proactive in a dynamic classroom environmentPrevious experience in SEN, care, or education is desirable but not essential. We also welcome applicants from backgrounds in psychology, education, social care, sports, creative arts, or youth work.
