Salary: £49,649 – £67,891 per annum

Location: Specialist education setting (South West England)
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling Psychologist to join a well-established, multidisciplinary team supporting young people with additional needs.
This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact. You will use evidence-based psychological approaches to support the emotional, cognitive, and behavioural development of young people, helping to prepare them for adulthood and independent living.
Working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team (MDT), you will play both a clinical and advisory role—delivering direct interventions while also supporting and guiding non-clinical staff to better understand and respond to complex behaviours and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct psychological assessments using structured interviews and psychometric tools
Design and deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions
Support the development of positive behaviour strategies and communication approaches
Provide consultation, guidance, and training to education and care staff
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external professionals
Supervise Assistant Psychologists and contribute to service development
Promote independence and positive outcomes for young people
About You
We are looking for a confident and compassionate professional who is committed to improving outcomes for young people.
Essential:
Doctorate-level qualification in Psychology
Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist
Experience working with young people, particularly those with autism (ages 11–16)
Strong understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
Ability to promote dignity, independence, and effective communication
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Desirable:
Experience working in education or residential care settings
Experience contributing to multidisciplinary or multi-agency teams

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
