Job Description
Mechanical/CMM Inspector
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for inspecting complex mechanical components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications and internal quality systems. Preference given to candidates experienced using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) in an aerospace precision environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform first article inspections, in‑process and final inspections using CMM and manual inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
* Validate dimensions and tolerances against engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
* Record and report inspection results accurately in quality systems.
* Identify non-conformances and raise NCRs, follow up corrective actions in accordance with QA procedures.
* Assist in process improvements to minimise inspection rejects and improve repeatability.
* Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to support root‑cause analysis.
* Maintain calibration and capability of measurement equipment.
Required Experience & Skills:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical inspection within aerospace or precision engineering.
* Proven skill using CMM software (e.g. PC-DMIS, Calypso or equivalent) and programming basic routines is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of metrology principles, GD&T and AS9102 (FAR) inspection packs.
* Competency with manual measuring equipment.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply tolerances consistently.
* Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to inspection.
* Proactive communicator and team‑oriented.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Formal qualification in inspection, metrology or engineering discipline.
* Experience with first article inspection processes and reporting.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 aerospace quality standards and NADCAP audits
