CNC Lathe Setter/Programmer – Day Shift
Location: Crewkerne
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours/week (Monday to Friday, early finish on Fridays)
Pay: £12.38–£16.00 per hour (DOE)
Bonus: Quarterly bonus + performance scheme
The Opportunity
An established engineering business in Crewkerne is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Setter/Programmer to join their growing Machine Shop. This is a great opportunity for a CNC Machinist with experience across 2, 3, or 4-axis machines who thrives in a precision-driven, safety-conscious environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines (2, 3, 4-axis)
Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to program and set up machines
Use CAM software to model cutting paths and optimise production
Perform in-process inspections to ensure component accuracy and quality
Adjust settings and tooling to maintain performance and part tolerances
Conduct basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
What We’re Looking For
Experience setting and/or programming CNC lathes (essential)
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Familiarity with tooling selection and machine setup
Solid understanding of CNC programming (CAM experience beneficial)
High attention to detail and precision
Good problem-solving skills

Team player with clear communication skills
