CNC Machinist
Location: Telford, UK
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on professional who takes pride in precision, quality, and craftsmanship.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machinery, ensuring that all components are produced to the highest quality standards. You’ll also play a key role in continuous improvement activities and provide feedback to our programming and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC machinery within the MAA business unit.
Select and set up tooling, fixtures, vices, and clamping systems.
Interpret engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments (speeds, feeds, etc.).
Conduct in-process and post-process inspection using visual and precision measurement tools.
Operate Heidenhain and Fanuc CNC control systems.
Manufacture components to engineering specifications.
Collaborate with the programming team to enhance machining efficiency.
Support continuous improvement initiatives (MAFACT, CI, and Factory Concept projects).
Contribute to fixture assembly cell manufacturing.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 qualification in CNC or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ post-apprenticeship CNC machining experience.
Proven ability to produce precision parts from engineering drawings.
Working technical knowledge of toolroom processes, including CAD/CAM.
Experience with 3-axis CNC machinery.
Strong understanding of continuous improvement practices.
Desirable:
Time-served apprenticeship in Press Toolmaking or Machining.
Experience with 5-axis CNC machinery.
Experience working with stamping, casting, or injection moulding tools.
Ability to interpret 3D CAD models.
Familiarity with CAD viewing software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion).
