Nelson Permanent Placements are working with a well-established and respected manufacturer of high-precision gears and machined components, supplying critical industries worldwide. We are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join their dedicated production team. In this role, you will operate CNC profile gear grinding machines to produce complex components to exacting tolerances and surface finishes, contributing to the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and engineering excellence.
The successful candidate will be proactive, quality-focused, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities of this role as a CNC Machinist you will be:
* Operating CNC profile gear grinding machines to produce components efficiently and to a high standard
* Grinding a wide range of components to tight tolerances and specified surface finishes
* Accurately recording final dimensions and surface finish measurements
* Interpreting engineering drawings, technical data, and computer-generated information
* Supporting day-to-day workshop activities, including quality, health & safety, and environmental practices
* Taking responsibility for the accuracy and quality of your own work with minimal supervision
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
* Ensuring all standard operating procedures and work practices are followed
* Carrying out routine planned maintenance checks to ensure machinery is operating correctly
* Responding effectively to any machinery faults or emergency situations
Requirements of a CNC Machinist you will:
* Hold an HNC (or equivalent) in Manufacturing or a related engineering discipline
* Have working knowledge of CNC machinery, including lathes, milling, or gear cutting machines
* Be able to work from instructions as well as use your own initiative
* Be experienced in selecting and using a range of measuring and inspection equipment
* Be confident in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical data
* Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
* Have experience with Siemens-controlled machines (desirable but not essential)
