The Role: CNC Manufacturing Engineer
We are working with a leading precision engineering business that is expanding its technical operations team and now seeking an experienced CNC Manufacturing Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-paced, high-quality machining environment where you’ll help shape modern manufacturing processes and keep work flowing efficiently across a busy CNC shopfloor.
As a CNC Manufacturing Engineer, you will be based on a single, modern engineering site within Cambridgeshire in a permanent, full-time role. You’ll work closely with the Technical Operations Manager and support cross-functional teams to optimise machining methods, develop cutting strategies, enhance tooling performance, and drive continuous improvement across production.
Main Responsibilities – CNC Manufacturing Engineer:
* Produce CNC programs using CAM software (Hypermill experience advantageous).
* Select and specify cutting tools to maximise machining efficiency.
* Design, model, and draw fixture components for internal manufacturing use.
* Collaborate with the Design and Technical Operations teams to support design for manufacture.
* Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to achieve quality standards.
* Review complex components, understanding GD&T and presenting machining strategies.
* Meet or exceed estimated cycle times to increase workshop productivity.
* Work to departmental KPIs and help drive ongoing performance improvements.
Skills/Experience – CNC Manufacturing Engineer:
* Strong background as a CNC Machinist within a precision engineering environment.
* Experience with CAD/CAM software—Hypermill highly beneficial.
* Skilled in machining methods, work-holding techniques, and tooling strategy.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings with solid GD&T knowledge.
* Excellent computer literacy and programming capabilities.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced setting.
* Proactive, detail-driven, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Salary & Working Hours – CNC Manufacturing Engineer:
* Competitive salary, dependent on experience
* Full-time, permanent role
