Job Description
Our client are a precision engineering firm who are looking to recruit a experienced production manager to join the team.
Job Summary:
The Production Manager will oversee the CNC workshop, Assembly & Finishing departments. This role involves managing a team of 8 across various departments. Seƫng up and maintaining production procedures, Producing CAM programs when required, and optimizing manufacturing processes and ensuring high product quality.
Key Responsibilities: Production Management:
• Oversee daily production operations to ensure product output.
• Produce CAM Programs when required, with a hands on approach to the setup of CNC Vertical Machining centres and CNC Lathes .
• Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet demand.
• Establish and maintain production procedures.
• Monitor and refine production processes, adjust schedules as needed, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
Quality Control:
• Implement quality assurance protocols to ensure all products meet company standards.
• Address and resolve quality issues promptly.
Apprenticeship Program:
• Provide training and development opportunities for apprentices.
• Monitor progress and ensure apprentices gain relevant skills and experience.
Qualifications and Experience: Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Proven experience in managing production processes in the engineering sector.
• Experience with 5 axis CNC Milling machines, CNC Lathe, Manual Lathe.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
Essential skills:
• Must have the ESSENTIAL requirements in bold below to communicate meaningfully about work holding, tooling and machining techniques to manage the CNC workshop and potentially actively Program, set and machine if cover ever needed.
• Must have working and practical CNC Vertical machining centres and Lathes knowledge - ESSENTIAL.
• Must have working knowledge of Edgecam or similar CAM programming package – ESSENTIAL.
• Ability to manually manage workflow & implement own system/method (currently don’t have SAP / ERP)
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, being a hands on do-er when required.
• Proficiency in production planning and quality control.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
• Strong communicatons and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality
• Innovative thinker with the ability to drive process improvements.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Commitment to fostering a safe and productve work environment.
