The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer with proven experience in 5-axis machining. This is a hands-on role, programming, setting, and operating CNC machines to produce complex, high-precision components for both billet and additively manufactured parts.
You’ll work closely with design and engineering teams, taking ownership of the CNC process for new product introduction (NPI), ensuring designs are optimised for manufacturability, and delivering quality parts to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
*
Create and optimise 5-axis CNC programs for prototype and production runs.
*
Select tooling, geometry, and coatings for materials including Nickel, Titanium, and Aluminium alloys.
*
Set up CNC machines, produce first-offs, and validate machining processes.
*
Collaborate with engineers on DFM, fixturing strategies, and process improvements.
*
Participate in prototype builds and ensure accurate translation from design to part.
*
Ensure quality standards are met through in-process inspection and final verification.
*
Produce clear documentation and handovers for production operators.
Essential Skills & Experience
*
Strong background in 5-axis CNC programming and machining to tight tolerances.
*
Experience with metallic castings and additively manufactured parts.
*
Skilled in designing and implementing innovative fixturing solutions.
*
Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced team environment.
*
High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
Desirable
*
Experience with DMG Mori milling machines and Siemens controls.
*
Knowledge of Fusion 360 programming and modelling.
*
Understanding of DFM for near-net additive parts.
*
Experience working to AS9100/ISO9001 standards.
*
Familiarity with NPI processes such as FAI and APQP.
