Job Description
Job Title: CNC Setter / Operator
Pay: Up to £16.00 per hour (DOE)
Location: Crewkerne
Hours: 39 per week
Shift: Monday–Friday, early finish Fridays
Join a long-established precision engineering company based in Crewkerne, part of a world-leading international group serving the heat treatment and foundry industries. With over a century of manufacturing excellence, we’re expanding our skilled Machine Shop team.
The Role
As a CNC Lathe Setter / Operator, you’ll set and operate 2- and 3-axis CNC lathes to produce small to medium batch components to tight tolerances. Programming experience is an advantage but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Set and operate CNC lathes (Fanuc controls)
Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using precision instruments
Adjust settings confidently with minimal supervision
Maintain tooling and replace inserts
Perform basic machine maintenance and deburring
Operate overhead cranes (training provided)
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ CNC Lathe experience
Proficient in reading technical drawings
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
Strong commitment to health and safety
Team player with independent working ability
