Job Description

CNC Setter / Operator – Sliding Head (Multi-Axis Turning)

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a precision engineering environment specialising in metal machining and high-tolerance components. This is a hands-on role working with multi-axis CNC sliding head machines (Citizen/Swiss-type).

Key Responsibilities:

  * Full machine setup including tooling, fixtures, and datum setting

  * Operating multi-axis CNC turning / sliding head lathes

  * Editing G-code (Fanuc preferred) and adjusting offsets

  * Performing first-off inspection and in-process quality checks

  * Using micrometers, verniers, calipers to ensure tight tolerances

  * Optimising speeds, feeds, and cycle times

  * Maintaining production output, quality, and safety standards

Requirements:

  * Proven experience as a CNC Setter / Operator / CNC Turner

  * Strong background in turning (NOT milling)

  * Experience with sliding head / Swiss-type CNC machines

  * Ability to read engineering drawings

  * Experience with G-code / Fanuc controls

  * Confident using precision measuring equipment

  * Experience working with metal components in a manufacturing environment

Desirable:

  * Experience with Citizen or Star sliding head machines

  * CNC grinding exposure

  * Background in precision engineering / aerospace / automotive
