Job Title: CNC Setter/Operator
Location: Rochester, Kent
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the electrical and industrial sectors, is seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join their machine shop team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a proactive approach to production.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set and operate Mori Seiki, Muratec, and Citizen CNC machines to job specifications.
* Perform machine changeovers and production runs based on schedules and tolerances.
* Use Fanuc and Mitsubishi programming systems to operate lathes and machining centres.
* Modify and create CNC programmes based on drawings and component demand.
* Produce components to precise dimensions and specifications.
* Use measurement tools including Vernier, micrometres, gauges, and SPC systems.
* Record quality and production data during manufacturing.
* Maintain work areas following 5S principles and ensure health and safety compliance.
* Conduct daily machine checks and support efficient shop operations.
Requirements:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Relevant apprenticeship and minimum 3 years’ CNC operating/setting experience.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment and with 5S practices.
* Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
* Desirable: CNC programming qualification and experience with Fanuc/Mitsubishi systems and Mori Seiki, Citizen, and Muratec machines.
