About the Role:
One of my local government clients is seeking a skilled and motivated Collections Officer to support the Corporate (Sundry) Debtors Department at the London Borough of Hillingdon. This role is key in helping the council recover outstanding debts and manage financial obligations professionally and empathetically.
Key Responsibilities:

Proactively manage and recover sundry debts on behalf of the Local Authority
*
Engage with individuals and organisations to negotiate payment arrangements
*
Liaise with internal departments to coordinate debt recovery efforts
*
Carry out administrative duties related to debt collection and record-keeping
Essential Requirements:
*
Proven experience in debt recovery, ideally within a Local Authority or Government setting
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*
Excellent customer service and the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally
*
Able to work well within a team and independently
*
Sound administrative skills and attention to detail
