Chichester College Group have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a College Community Support Officer at our Chichester College campus. You will join us on part time, Fixed Term for 1 year basis. In return, we will offer a competitive salary pro rata of £27,785 to £30,364 per annum (i.e. £18,715.88 - £20,453.08).
30 hours per week, 36 weeks per year
The College Community Support Officer role:
Are you a charismatic, determined and confident person who has the ability and skills to engage hard to reach groups and disengaged students as well as to develop and co-ordinate activities that promote social cohesion and integration?
As our College Community Support Officer, you will provide the first response to incidents across the College site, assist Managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem-solving approach to highlighted issues and to implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.
It is essential that you hold GCSE maths and English Language, or equivalent, at grade 4/C or above as well as have a Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area, e.g. Coaching, Health and Social Care, Youth Work.
Key Responsibilities of our College Community Support Officer:
Provide first response to incidents across the College site.
To be aware of any areas of concern and assist managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem-solving approach to highlighted issues, and to implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.
To liaise with curriculum and support teams where appropriate to provide advice, guidance and holistic support to students and staff.
To work in partnership with curriculum and support teams; to share information and regularly update to ensure the the safety of our students
To promote positive behaviour in line with the College’s core values, attending referrals when required
To maintain accurate records and ensure they are entered onto the Safeguarding system in a timely manner and regularly updated
Our ideal College Community Support Officer should have the following skills and experience:
GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent at C grade or above
Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases
Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, including Prevent
Experience of working with young people (including 14-19 year olds) and vulnerable adults
Experience of working with challenging behaviour
The ability to deal with sensitive situations and work in a confidential manner
