Commercial Manager (Contract) Our Client, a leading organisation in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team for an exciting and critical project. Role Overview This strategic appointment is driven by the need to expertly manage the finalisation of a complex civil engineering project as it approaches its conclusion. The role is vital to ensuring all commercial and contractual claims are accurately prepared, validated, and resolved efficiently. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a senior-level professional to apply their expertise in managing claims, change events, and final account processes independently, contributing significantly to the project's successful close-out phase. Key Responsibilities Lead the review and analysis of numerous change events, developing comprehensive, evidence-based pricing strategies and narratives Manage and progress complex claims, ensuring they are resolved within the contractual framework without escalation Prepare, review, and validate final account submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness Analyse project programmes to challenge assumptions and support claims Act as the principal point of contact for commercial issues related to change management and claims, acting proactively to resolve challenges Collaborate with project teams to ensure commercial risks are identified and mitigated effectively Maintain detailed records of claims, negotiations, and related documentation to support final account closure Essential Skills & Experience Extensive experience in civil engineering contracting, specifically with reputable main contractors or tier 1/2 civil engineering firms Proven expertise in managing claims and change management processes on large infrastructure or heavy civils projects Strong ability to independently analyse, prepare, and defend claims and commercial narratives Excellent understanding of programme analysis, cost justification, and commercial dispute resolution Self-motivated with the confidence to operate autonomously in a high-pressure environment Proven track record of delivering accurate, well-justified commercial outputs Desirable Skills & Experience Proven experience in final account close-out processes Experience working on highway, utilities, infrastructure, industrial civils, rail, or energy projects Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex claims clearly Familiarity with dispute resolution and claims management tools or software What We Offer This role presents a unique chance to take ownership of a significant project phase, working closely with a trusted team to ensure a successful commercial conclusion.
