Salary: Circa. £72,000 DOE

JS Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a prestigious client in the construction sector who are seeking a high-calibre Commercial Manager. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a commercially astute individual with a proven track record in overseeing complex construction projects from a financial and contractual standpoint.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Construction Director and oversee a small commercial team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the profitability and commercial viability of projects, safeguarding against risk, and ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Management
* Oversee project budgets, monitor cash flow, and ensure financial targets are achieved
* Manage all commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion
Cost Control & Reporting
* Identify cost-saving opportunities, support profit planning, and lead commercial adjudications
* Prepare and deliver accurate commercial reports and financial analysis to senior stakeholders
Risk & Compliance
* Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring full compliance with legal and contractual requirements
Contract & Client Management
* Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
* Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolving any commercial queries
Business Development
* Contribute to tender submissions, bids and the pursuit of new project opportunities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead and support a team of commercial professionals including quantity surveyors and estimators
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Skills & Qualifications:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field (preferred)
* At least 15 years’ experience in the construction industry, including experience in a senior commercial position
* Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions
* Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills
* In-depth understanding of construction contracts, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
* Proven ability to lead teams and deliver commercially successful outcomes
