Introduction: We are an agency recruiting for a local company offering breakdown and recovery services as well as a commercial workshop for truck and crane services. Our client, a well-established business, is looking to recruit an Commercial Mechanic / HGV Fitter - Workshop / Mobile to join their team.
Job Title: Commercial Mechanic / HGV Fitter - Workshop / Mobile
Location: Depot based from Grays, Essex
Description: The role of the HGV Mechanic / Fitter is work in the workshop repairing Commercial Vehicles (Lorries and Mobile Cranes) as well as attending roadside breakdowns and customer sites.
The customer requires someone with a minimum HGV2 (LGVC) licence who is prepared to train to HGV1 (LGVCE) at the company's time and expense.
The successful candidate will also have Commercial Vehicle Fitter Knowledge or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics skills to be able to diagnose faults and repair vehicles.
Licence: UK, HGV Class 2 (LGVC) licence with a maximum of 6 points on licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalties.
Digi-Tacho: Required on starting
Driver's CPC: Full DCPC required
Skills: Preferred to have previous Recovery Driving experience.
Have some Commercial Vehicle Fitter Knowledge or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics experience.
Experience: Ideally will have worked as an HGV Recovery Driver with Commercial Vehicle Mechanics. Would welcome applications from ex-Military personnel, especially ex-REME.
Training: Our client offers Induction training which includes safe use of the vehicle provided, Health & Safety and paperwork & procedures and will, for the right applicant, offer Heavy Recovery training.
People Skills: All applicants must have superb customer care skills and be able to communicate effectively with the general public in stressful and difficult situations.
Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
A good level of fitness is required as the work can be very heavy.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 06:00/08:00 start times
Hours: Basic 45 hours per week (based on 9 hours worked per day) plus On-Call Work and Overtime.
Basic Salary: £46,800 plus overtime
Additional Pay:
Overtime: x 1.5
On-Call: £25 Callout bonus for every job plus x 1.5 hourly rate paid door to door.
OTE Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per year depending upon skills and hours worked
Job Status: Permanent with immediate interviews and starts.
