Role Overview:
As a Commercial Underwriter, you’ll play a vital role in assessing and underwriting a variety of commercial lending proposals. You will work closely with Business Development Managers, brokers, and internal teams to ensure sound credit decisions that align with both customer needs and the business’s risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the whole process from application to drawdown
*
Assess and underwrite commercial finance applications in line with company policies and procedures
*
Complete detailed due diligence and risk analysis for new and existing proposals
*
Liaise with brokers and internal teams to gather additional information and provide underwriting support
*
Prepare thorough credit papers and present cases to the credit committee when required
*
Work collaboratively with BDMs and sales support to ensure smooth customer journeys
*
Maintain strong awareness of industry trends and evolving risk factors
Ideal Candidate Profile:
*
Previous experience in commercial term underwriting within the specialist finance or lending sector
*
Strong analytical and credit assessment skills
*
Cemap is desired, although not essential
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
*
A team player with a can-do attitude and a passion for getting the right outcome for clients and the business
*
Knowledge of bridging, development, or commercial mortgages is required
