Data Centre Commissioning Engineer

We are partnering with a leading data centre specialist to recruit an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of mission-critical facilities across the UK and EMEA. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on some of the most technically advanced hyperscale and colocation data centre projects in the market.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing commissioning activities across complex MEP systems, ensuring operational readiness and successful project handover.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage and conduct commissioning activities for critical data centre infrastructure.

  * Develop and review commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures.

  * Coordinate testing of electrical, mechanical, and BMS systems.

  * Oversee Level 1-5 commissioning processes.

  * Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

  * Ensure commissioning activities are completed in line with project schedules and quality standards.

  * Work closely with contractors, consultants, clients, and project teams to resolve technical issues.

  * Review construction and design documentation to identify commissioning requirements.

  * Produce commissioning reports, snag lists, and handover documentation.

  * Maintain the highest levels of health, safety, and compliance throughout project delivery.

Requirements

  * Proven experience commissioning data centre or mission-critical facilities.

  * Strong understanding of critical MEP systems including:

      * UPS Systems

      * Generators

      * Switchgear

      * MV/LV Distribution

      * Cooling Systems (CRAC/CRAH, Chillers)

      * BMS/EPMS Controls

  * Experience working within commissioning processes (Cx).

  * Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.

  * Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.

  * Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).

  * Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK and Europe.

Desirable Experience

  * Data Centre commissioning experience within hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise environments.

  * Knowledge of Commissioning Management processes.

  * Experience working with Tier III and Tier IV facilities.

  * Understanding of Uptime Institute, TIA-942, or equivalent data centre standards.

  * Previous experience working for a commissioning consultancy, contractor, or data centre operator
