Commissioning Engineer
Location
Site-based role with travel to customer sites across the UK and potentially internationally as required.
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing industrial engineering business delivering complex machinery and automation projects.
This role is ideal for a strong electrically biased engineer with proven experience in PLC fault finding, commissioning and industrial automation systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting a wide range of industrial machinery and systems on customer sites. Typical equipment may include conveyors, packaging machinery, automated production lines, process equipment, motors, drives, sensors, safety circuits and PLC-controlled systems.
This is a site-based role and does not require regular travel to a central office location.
Key Responsibilities for Commissioning Engineer
* Carry out installation and commissioning of industrial machinery and automation systems.
* Ensure all equipment is installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards.
* Work closely with customers to ensure systems meet technical and operational requirements.
* Diagnose and fault-find on electrical, control and PLC systems.
* Commission machinery including motors, drives, sensors, control panels and safety circuits.
* Support commissioning of PLC-controlled systems, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar platforms.
* Carry out fault finding on industrial communication networks, drives and associated equipment where required.
* Create commissioning reports, technical documentation and completion records.
* Manage commissioning activities in line with project schedules and deadlines.
* Liaise with project management, design, production and service teams.
* Support customers during testing, handover and post-installation activities.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
* Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics qualification, or equivalent engineering background.
* Electrical qualifications highly desirable.
Experience
* Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within industrial or manufacturing environments.
* Strong electrical background with the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
* Strong PLC fault-finding experience.
* Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar PLC platforms.
* Knowledge of motors, inverters, drives, sensors, relays, contactors and safety circuits.
* Experience commissioning industrial machinery, automated systems or process equipment.
* Understanding of industrial communication networks and automation systems advantageous.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
* Strong organisational and project management skills.
