Commissioning Engineer – Staff – Salary + Benefits – Remote With Travels To Client Sites
Our market leading client is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join their organisation on a permanent staff basis. The work will be mainly at a client's site, where you will be responsible for commissioning and maintenance of systems and equipment. Where clients require, you may be on site to oversee the installation activities as well.
You will ensure products are working according to specifications and meet the clients’ needs. You may also offer advice on, or improve upon operational procedures and will also investigate, diagnose and repair faults as well as creating and conducting test procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
* Undertaking testing and commissioning activities on site, preparing test plans, procedures, and checklists of how systems will be tested.
* Reviewing technical documents to understand the function of each system, providing technical support and making improvements, and offering advice about, operational procedures. Both internally to the company and to clients.
* Performing root cause analysis to investigate problems, diagnosing and repairing faults: to identify system conditions that are abnormal, to determine their cause, and to implement / recommend corrective actions.
* Liaising with clients and installation / project engineers. Work with construction groups to ensure quality and operative requirements are met. Monitoring progress, recording all test results, executing (or witnessing) final testing and acceptance of equipment.
* Producing or assisting in the production of all test and commissioning reports and documentation for inclusion in the site test dossier.
* Travelling to sites, and you may need to stay away from home for few consecutive weeks (e.g. up to two / three consecutive weeks).
Role Specific Duties:
* Negotiating, supervisory and team working skills combined with the ability to delegate.
* Experience of working with process equipment including piping, pumps, vessels, valves, pneumatics and hydraulics etc.
* Technical expertise (e.g. in test, design and operations) which evolved into the ability to apply engineering principles to practical engineering problems.
* Ability to conduct regular site visits as required, including climbing ladders, work near operating mechanical equipment and energized electrical equipment, exposed to noise, dust and/or external elements in harsh environment.
* Ideally understanding of NFPA and other codes regarding Testing and Commissioning requirements.
* Requires moderate lifting and carrying (45-65 pounds).
* Frequency of travel can be extensive with potentially > 50% both domestic and overseas.
* Ability to cope with shift work and unsocial hours, which are often required where equipment is in 24-hour operation or to meet specific project deadlines.
Experience & Qualification:
* Ideally a degree in engineering subjects such as preferably Mechanical Engineering or alternatively Electrical / Hydraulic Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
* Full UK driving license.
* Sound mathematical, analytical and technical skills combined with good working knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook.
* Experience of commissioning ideally in the Oil & Gas, Fire safety, Aviation markets, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, COMAH or highly regulated sector is preferred.
* Willingness to travel to support commissioning activities
